Alex is a solicitor in the Employment team. He advises on the full range of contentious and non-contentious employment law and HR issues and acts for both employers and individuals on employment tribunal claims involving unfair dismissal, discrimination, breach of contract and whistleblowing.
He has advised various FTSE 350 companies as well as organisations from the sports, education, financial services, public, technology, life sciences, retail and leisure sectors. He also advises individuals and senior executives on terms of employment, exit packages and post-termination restrictions, providing support in employment tribunal proceedings and during the negotiation of settlements.
As well as being a regular author of articles and commentary pieces for employment-related websites and magazines, Alex has drafted a variety of courses and seminars. He is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and provides training on employment law issues for clients.
- Advising an Oxbridge college in relation to its successful defence of an appeal to the CCAT by a student who had been sent down for academic disciplinary reasons
- Assisting employers in relation to their responses to data subject access requests made by employees
- Advising on a six-figure settlement agreement for a senior executive of a life sciences company.
Alex joined Thomas Cooper in 2016 and qualified in 2015; trained at Penningtons Manches 2013-2015; Associate at Penningtons Manches in Employment team 2015-2016; LLB at University of Leicester 2008-2012, including a year studying abroad at University of Copenhagen 2010-2011 and completed his LPC at Oxford Institute of Legal Practice 2012-2013.
