Javier Hernández Valenciano



Javier specialises in dispute resolution and has litigation experience in complex insurance and reinsurance matters.  

He deals regularly with all matters of insurance and reinsurance, international trade and shipping, including marine insurance, charter parties and bills of lading disputes for insurance companies, P&I Clubs, shipowners, freight forwarders and cargo owners, having intervened in cases of collisions, arrests, salvage, hull damage claims, personal injuries and cargo claims for Spanish and international insurance companies, P&I Clubs and Lloyd’s syndicates.  

He has also a particular focus on work travel and tourism. Javier has been co-opted as a Member of the Working Group of the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) for the drafting of international legal instruments on protection of tourist/consumers and travel organizers in 2014.


Javier read law at the University of Salamanca and obtained a Master’s degree in International Trade from the Carlos III University. He qualified as Member of the Madrid Bar Association in 2008. 

He also frequently lectures in business schools as ICADE/IME or ISEAD. Javier is fluent in Spanish (mother tongue) and Italian.
